Langer – a messaging and calling app with a built-in interpreter
A messaging and calling app with a built-in interpreter: chats and calls are translated as you talk, so everyone can speak their own language.
The working prototype already translates chats, voice calls and face-to-face conversations, and beta sign-ups are open.

The task
Video calls connect people but don't help them understand each other, and in a chat every message has to be copied into a translator and back. The translation had to happen inside the conversation itself: in the chat, on the call and face to face.
The solution
Chats that translate themselves
You write the way you always do: your message reaches the other person in their language, and theirs reaches you in yours. The original is always one tap away, so nothing gets lost.
- Each person picks their language once.
- The original is always there to check.
- Read receipts and online status.
Calls with an interpreter on the line
You talk in your language, phrase by phrase, and the other person hears you in theirs, in a natural voice. You both follow along in a transcript with the original and the translation.
- Speech recognition, AI translation and natural voices.
- A transcript with both the original and the translation.
- Mute and speaker, like any other call.
A pocket interpreter, face to face
At the pharmacy, the landlord's or the bus stop: say or type it in your language and Langer reads the translation aloud – or simply show the screen.
- Speak or type.
- Hear the translation read aloud.
- Swap languages with one tap.
Who it is for
- Families whose members live in different countries and speak different languages.
- Newcomers finding their way in a new country: landlords, schools, doctors and neighbours.
- Teams and freelancers working with clients and colleagues abroad.
- Travellers.
Speech recognition, AI translation and natural voices sit behind one real-time layer, so the AI providers can be switched as the technology improves.
