MCP servers for accounting systems

Let ChatGPT, Claude or another AI assistant work with your accounting data – securely, and only within each user's permissions.

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard through which AI assistants connect to other systems: they search their data, prepare reports and carry out actions.

Why answers from accounting take so long

  • A simple question means exporting data and losing half a working day.
  • AI assistants can't see your data, and pasting exports into a chat is slow and unsafe.
  • Giving AI access to the whole database with full rights is not an option.

Step by step

  1. 1

We agree the questions and actions

We establish which questions the assistant should answer and which actions it may carry out.

  2. 2

    We build the MCP server

The server offers clear tools: find a customer, show debts by due date, sales for a period, a supplier's documents or a stock balance, prepare a draft invoice.

  3. 3

Everyone signs in with their own account

Each user signs in with their own account (OAuth), so the assistant gets exactly that user's permissions.

  4. 4

We connect it to the AI assistant

We add the MCP server to ChatGPT, Claude or another MCP-compatible assistant.

  5. 5

You ask in your own words

The assistant answers with figures and references the documents it relies on.

  6. 6

    Changes only after confirmation

The user must confirm every change, and every call to the server is logged.

Example

Example: a simplified diagram.

How an AI assistant works with a business system
  1. Done by AI: AI assistant

  2. MCP server

    Tools and OAuth sign-in

    • The main path

      1. The system's API

      2. The same permissions and business rules

        As in the user interface

      3. Data

    • Where the API doesn't cover the workPrototype

      1. The desktop program in a virtual machine

The AI sees the screen and uses the mouse and keyboard

What the solution covers

  • Answers from accounting data

Customers, suppliers, invoices, payments, debts, stock, sales and VAT summaries.

  • Actions with confirmation

Where needed, the assistant prepares documents – as drafts rather than posted entries.

  • Sign-in and permissions

OAuth, per-user permissions, a read-only mode and blocked sensitive fields.

  • Business rules on the server

Rules are enforced on the server, so the assistant cannot get round them.

  • Log and limits

Every call is logged, and the number of calls is limited.

  • Software without an API

The AI works in the desktop program itself, in an isolated virtual machine.

  • On your servers or in the cloud

The MCP server runs where you choose: on your own infrastructure or in the cloud.

  • Example questions and training

We show your staff how to ask so that the answers are accurate.

What you can ask

  • Which customers are more than 30 days late paying, and how much do they owe?
  • Compare this quarter's sales with the same quarter last year, by product group.
  • Are there any duplicates among the supplier invoices?
  • Prepare draft invoices for all the work done this month.
  • Write reminders to the customers whose debt is over 500 euros.

How the AI assistant works through an MCP server

  • The assistant doesn't roam the database: it uses only the tools the server defines.
  • It answers with figures and references to documents, so every answer can be checked.
  • Before changing anything, the assistant shows what it intends to do and waits for confirmation.
  • Whatever a user may not see, the assistant doesn't see either.

Integrations

Accounting software

  • Other accounting software with an API or a database.
  • Desktop programs without an API – the AI operates the program itself in an isolated virtual machine.
  • Business systems: a CRM (CRM with a mobile app for your team), an online shop (Websites with an AI assistant), a warehouse system.
  • AI assistants: ChatGPT, Claude, Microsoft Copilot and other MCP-compatible tools.

Our principles

  • We start read-only and enable actions only where they are really needed.
  • The same permissions and rules apply as in the program's own interface.
  • We test with real questions from your staff.
  • We run a security review (sensitive fields, logs, limits), and access can be revoked for each user separately.
  • We keep the server up to date as the accounting software and the MCP standard change.

Examples of our work

AI that works in desktop software through MCP

2026Prototype

An MCP server through which an AI assistant sees the screen of a program running in a virtual machine and works its mouse and keyboard – where the program has no API or the API can't do everything.

Built for a Windows accounting program, but it works with any desktop program.

Questions and answers

Will the AI see all our accounting data?

No. The assistant sees only what the signed-in user may see, and sensitive fields can be blocked for everyone.

Can the AI change anything?

Only if you enable actions. The assistant then prepares drafts or changes data only after the user confirms, and all of it is logged.

What if our software has no API?

Then we connect to the program's database with read-only rights. The other option is for the AI to operate the program itself, in an isolated virtual machine.

What would you like to ask your accounting system?

A few sentences are enough – we'll reply and talk through how we could help.
